Breaking ice
[2007-12-05]
Grappling with how to draw out my feelings
I tear and bite like a numbing wind
grasping for signs of what others have felt,
reflecting my own emotions.
sound: Jon Hizzard
Flinders Island 2003
animation: L.R.
The dancing figure has been used before,
in the film, Beware of Pedestrians (1995)
The model on which the animated figures
are based was conceived by the British osteopath,
S.G.J. Wernham, to research how gravity
travels through the body.
His was the first DYNAMIC paradigm
for understanding complex body motion.
Using this model
he was able to demonstrate
that our bodies move
in countless combinations
of the four "pure" movement directions -
flexion, extension, side-bending and rotation.
