ANARE

Nell Law, First emblem design
for ANARE (Australian National Research Expeditions)
commissioned by its first director Phillip Law, in 1947

Since 1947, ANARE has evolved to become the AAD (Australian Antarctic Division).

The ANARE Club and Journal, first established to maintain connections between expeditioners, continues through club meetings and the ANARE journal. Stories continue to be told about Antarctic science and the challenges faced by the people who work in the ice.

Now more that ever it is important that more people connect to accurate information about climate change.

When I hear stories about the people doing Antarctic science (past and present) it helps me to connect to this important work that continues through the AAD.

When I look at art that expeditioners have made to reflect their experiences in Antarctica, this connects me to the changes that are happening there that scientists have been measuring since the Heroic Era.
