Drawing the subtly eccentricl markings of diatoms, I was wondering what they meant.
The visual structures of the natural world have aesthetic appeal in their own right. And they are maps, showing their purpose, and how they interconnect with their environment.
Like message sticks, they hold many levels of meanings.
