Animated visualisations and iconic interfaces

This is amazing!

Browsing through science sites of fluid dynamics, I stumble upon visual hyperlinks to algorithmic art.

I like the way images stand in for words, as they do in some children’s books.

.

The animations of sea levels rising, of pteropods, diatoms, and water molecules, are clear and simple in their forms.

They work well projected large (on Whispering Walls) as well as small, as icons for a computer interface.

Two categories of animations are emerging: scientific (recorded through instruments) and the artistic (human responses filtered through senses).
