Outcomes

Installations, presentations and an online virtual journey will forge
links between Indigenous knowledge and Western science, with voices of creatures expressed in languages that a child can understand: primal forms in nature used to pass on knowledge of relationships that sustain life. Circling, spiralling and crossing forms will vary to reflect relationships varying with environments. Improvised choreographies will evolve, as in nature.

Photo/video documentation will detail methods and processes of co-creation, providing a new framework/working model of collaboration.

Access to the project will be physical, virtual and intergenerational;
people of all ages will engage with each other and with country through walks, talks and workshops, and an animated installation, and on-line digital puppet’s virtual journey.

The project will open up new conversations and change old ones, about the meanings of treaty, language and identity. Is treaty an agreement set in stone? Or an agreement that evolves as people share and grow knowledge in step with our changing world? Is language a system for arranging words for linear argument? Or is language a system of sounds, signs and gestures that we hold within our bodies as knowledge of the rhythms in nature?

The project will support two approaches to the language of knowledge sharing from an indigenous perspective. Firstly the narrative style of each animation will bind the scientific approach into a memorable thread that can be revisited at greater depth through future interactions with the stories. Contributors can grow this story over time by providing new animations as the online community grows in understanding the concepts of sustainability. Secondly a game interface will display animations on country where the player can collect knowledge and stories within the body of the puppet avatar, and perform and share these in new locations. The puppet avatar will gain knowledge through encountering stories on location on a 3D map. The young player can replay the story of their journey as a retrospective collation of the player’s past experiences.

Young people around the world will be enabled to contribute to the online evolution of a network that reflects relationships that grow and change through space and time. By contributing stories, they can in turn inspire and inform future generations.
